Smithsburg back from lacrosse loss to win over Brunswick 14-1, South bests North 6-4

SMITHSBURG, Md. – Zach Linn scored four goals and added two assists as the Smithsburg boys lacrosse team bounced back from a tough loss to Linganore on Thursday with a 14-1 win over Brunswick. 

The Leopards lost to the Lancers 18-3 on Tuesday. 

Kaden Dietrich added two goals and two assists for Smithsburg, while Marquis Weakfall had two goals, an assist and won six of eight faceoffs. Jake Nussear also had two goals and an assist and Andrew Ritter scored twice. 

Brady Snyder, Nick Roncone, Kyle Kretsinger rounded out Smithsburg’s scoring with a goal each. 

Goalkeeper Dante Rucci held the Railroaders scoreless while making eight saves. Victor Luna finished the game in goal, stopping five shots. 

South Hagerstown 6, North Hagerstown 4 

HAGERSTOWN Md. – Jack Burns scored two goals and added an assist on Wednesday as South Hagerstown set a school record for wins in a season as a varsity sport. 

The Rebels collected their eighth win in 10 games this season, surpassing the seven wins they had last season. South tied a school record of eight wins, set in 1997 but it was when the program was a “club” sport. 

Wyatt Roberts added two goals for South, while Nygi Jefferies added a goal and an assist. 

North Hagerstown was led by Keegan Warrick and Liam Kline with a goal apiece.
