WAYNESBORO—Buttonwood Nature Center hosts a community program, Greener Goodbyes: Green Burial and Funeral Alternatives, on Thursday, April 30 at 7 p.m. at the Church of the Apostles, 336 Barnett Ave, Waynesboro.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
Licensed funeral director Rhea Brandenburg, from Brandenburg & Stein Funeral Parlor in Gettysburg, presents an informative program on green burial and other eco-friendly end-of-life options. Learn how choosing a “greener goodbye” can honor both personal values and the natural world.
According to the funeral home’s website, green funeral alternatives are sustainable, natural and environmentally conscious. A green burial forgoes embalming chemicals, metal caskets, and concrete vaults in favor of biodegradable materials that return the body to the earth naturally. This practice supports environmental conservation and allows for a more nature-connected farewell.
