WAYNESBORO – Waynesboro kept its winning momentum rolling Wednesday, defeating Shippensburg 5-2 to record its second straight victory.
Jack Knepper delivered a strong performance for the Indians, striking out six batters through 4.2 innings while allowing two earned runs on seven hits and one walk. The senior hurler has been consistent on the mound, with at least five strikeouts in each of his last three appearances. Knepper also contributed offensively, going 1-for-2 with a double, a run scored, and one RBI.
The Indians showed speed and depth at the plate. Rayshawn Frazer-Hewitt sparked the offense by swiping three bases—his first of the season—while finishing 1-for-2 with a run. Riley Eaton added a pair of hits in four at-bats, including a triple, plus a run and an RBI. Ryan Jenkins joined the offensive surge with a 2-for-3 effort that featured a double, a stolen base, and one RBI.
With the win, Waynesboro improved to 7-2 overall. Meanwhile, Shippensburg dropped to 3-5, losing four of its last five contests.
Both teams are back on the road Friday. Waynesboro travels to Chambersburg for a 4:15 p.m. matchup, while Shippensburg visits Lower Dauphin at 4 p.m.
