MERCERSBURG, Pa. – Mercersburg Academy’s Burgin Center for the Arts presents “The Farm,” an exhibition by artist Krister Killinger from now through April 28. Killinger will also be the featured guest at an artist’s reception on Saturday, April 4, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
Killinger’s artwork depicts the beauty of farm life, a profession he “began only five years ago when my wife and I purchased a farm and slowly filled it with beautiful creatures,” he said. “Over time, the animals and the land became our sanctuary, a place where we could lose ourselves in peace, joy and serenity.”
While Killinger is relatively new to the profession, he comes from a long line of farmers, and as he explains, this art exhibit “reflects not only the agricultural roots woven through my family history but also the deep personal fulfillment I experience in this new, unexpected chapter of my life.”
“This is a skillfully executed, delightful, and captivating body of work, illustrative of Mr. Killinger’s connection to and reverence for life on the farm,” says Syd Caretti P, arts faculty and director of galleries at Mercersburg. “So beautifully captured, with a magnitude of textures and purity of light, it connects us to observed and lived experiences. “The Farm” offers a front row seat to his clear focus and celebration of surroundings and, more poignantly, his love for his family.”
The Burgin Center for the Arts is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Visitors can contact the Office of Campus Safety using instructions at the Burgin front door to be admitted or make an appointment with Caretti at 717-328-6206.
