GETTYSBURG – Families and history buffs will find plenty to do in Gettysburg this weekend as the Gettysburg Foundation highlights its free Winter Lecture Series and History Kids Reading Adventures Club at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center.
The History Kids Reading Adventures Club will meet Saturday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. in the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center theater. The program, recommended for children ages 4 to 10, features themed book readings led by a park educator and hands-on activities that bring history to life for young learners.
The Foundation’s Winter Lecture Series will continue at 1:30 p.m. both Saturday, Jan. 24, and Sunday, Jan. 25, in the museum’s theater. The popular series showcases park rangers, historians and authors exploring Civil War topics in one-hour talks designed for lifelong learners and casual visitors alike.
Both the History Kids Reading Adventures Club and the Winter Lecture Series are free and open to the public, part of the park’s broader 2026 winter programming. Free tickets for the lectures are available in person on the day of each program, with seating offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
The museum and visitor center, operated in partnership by the Gettysburg Foundation and the National Park Service, serves as the central hub for winter educational offerings. Organizers say the programs support the America250 commemoration by inviting visitors of all ages to consider how they can help preserve the nation’s history.
