Facing the prospect of losing for a third-straight game, Chambersburg’s boys basketball team rose to the occasion at last weekend’s Dunks for Drew showcase.
The Trojans, expected to be in a tight game with Greencastle-Antrim, instead turned up the heat and emerged with a 69-40 win over the Blue Devils. Chambersburg (5-4) begins the back half of its season with a winning record.
On the wrestling mat, Fairfield and Greencastle-Antrim each had strong showings last week. The Knights’ Caleb Tyler captured the heavyweight title at the YAIAA Championships last weekend, while the Blue Devils nailed down their 10th win of the season after going 3-3 at the Juniata Pooled Duals.
Chambersburg’s swimming program traveled to the Cumberland Valley Invite and returned to Franklin County with a wealth of medals. The Trojan boys got wins from Ethan White in both the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM, while the girls were led by Calla Hoffman, who posted runner-up finishes in both the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
Finally, in girls indoor track and field, South Hagerstown’s Chloe Gietka took second in the triple jump at the Ice Box Invitational.
