The Season’s Beatings youth wrestling tournament, hosted by Biglerville, has become a must-attend event for advanced grapplers seeking a quality early-season test.
Waynesboro’s Ace Beltz, perhaps a little too advanced for the 65-pounders in the 10U bracket, decided to challenge himself by taking on the 12U wrestlers as well.
It was a successful endeavor for the Tribe’s mat prodigy: Beltz won championships at both the 10U and 12U levels.
Beltz dominated his 10U bracket, pinning all five of his opponents in quick fashion. At 12U, Beltz posted falls over his first two opponents before churning out a 12-0 major decision victory in the championship bout over Carlisle’s Zayden Peterson.
Beltz was one of seven Waynesboro wrestlers to finish in the Top 4. Freedom Young (12U) and Noah Swope (10U) both won titles, while other placewinners included Luke Swope (8U, 2nd), Emory Smith (10U, 3rd), and Grayson Purdhum (10U, 4th).
Chambersburg’s youth grapplers were also in attendance at Biglerville, with the Trojans crowning three champs: Abel Hight (12U), Benjamin Mayhugh (10U), and Archer Hight (10U). Samuel Stoner wrestled in two age groups, taking second at 10U and fourth at 12U. Chambersburg had four other placewinners in Knox Bryan (10U, 2nd), Ezra Kump (10U, 3rd), Frankie Bryan (12U, 4th), and Ezra Harbaugh (12U, 4th).
Waynesboro and Chambersburg also had wrestlers competing in select 6U and 8U weight brackets, which were accidentally deleted by the Season’s Beatings tournament staff.
The Big Spring Bulldog MS Invitational saw two area wrestlers bring home medals. Chambersburg’s Mirra Harbaugh captured the 180-pound title, while Waynesboro’s Molly Tice took sixth at 120 pounds.
Finally, the Junior Cat Brawl at East Pennsboro saw three Fairfield wrestlers land on the awards stand: Hunter Harlacher (2nd at 130), John Tanner Packard (2nd at 138), and Emmanuel Gonzalez (7th at 80).
