CHAMBERSBURG – If you are looking for thrills and chills this Halloween then dare to enter the Haunted Jail located at the Old Jail on King Street. Walk through the large cell door down into the yard where clowns and fiends await you. Pass by the gallows where prisoners were executed in the 1800’s, if you dare.
You then make your way up to the fourth floor to the funhouse of fear. Then if your nerves can manage it, continue down into the dungeon where terror waits around every corner. You’re not afraid of clowns…are you?
The Haunted Jail is one of the longest-running Halloween attractions in Franklin County and is the largest fund-raising event held by the Franklin County Historical Society. The Old Jail Museum is the perfect location to frighten fun seekers out of their wits as they make their way around the dark corridors.
The Haunted Jail will be open on Halloween night, Friday, Oct. 31 and Saturday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m.-9:30 p.m. Admission is $10, and parking is available in the church lot next to the jail. Be sure to visit the concession stand to get a hat or a “I Survived the Haunted Jail” Tee Shirt while supplies last.
The Haunted Jail Halloween attraction is at 175 E. King St. For more information about the event and other historical society information, readers may visit the website at https://www.franklinhistorical.org.
