Life has been a whirlwind for Alyssa Cullum. In you missed it, the Greencastle driver is now married to Justin Cullum — Winchester Speedway’s points champion in the UMP Modified Division — and in May the couple welcomed a baby girl, Saylor, to their “pit crew.”
While most aspects of life are wildly different for Cullum, a few things have stayed exactly the same. Most notably, Cullum hasn’t forgotten how to win a race.
Competing in the Modifieds feature at Path Valley Speedway on Saturday, the second-starting Cullum surged to the lead on the green flag and maintained her top position throughout the 20-lap race. It was a touch-and-go race that saw Cullum survive four restarts, the final of which came with three laps remaining. She had a speedy car for the race, and finished with the fastest lap at over 73 mph in 12.313 seconds.
The 270 Sprints feature at Path Valley saw Fort Loudon’s Zach Glass and Greencastle’s Bradyn Kuhn take third and fourth, respectively, while Hagerstown’s Kameron Morral took third in the 600 Sprints. Chambersburg’s Randy Burkhoder and Rodney Walls finished 5-6 in the Limited Models, while Fayetteville’s Roger Traxler took ninth in the Thunder Cars.
Scott Palmer, of Greencastle, had a storybook ending to his racing season thanks to a big Fall Nationals effort at BAPS Motor Speedway on Saturday. Palmer not only won the 20-lap Limited Late Models feature, driving from fifth to first, he also sealed up a points championship in the process. Palmer was chased to the finish line by St. Thomas’ Michael Walls, who finished in fourth.
Also at BAPS, Chambersburg’s Kelby Friese competed in two East Coast Legends features and finished seventh in both races. Fayetteville’s Cole Dewease competed in the 305 Sprints and finished seventh.
Finally at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday, Waynesboro’s Eric Moats drove to a fifth-place finish in the Limited Stocks feature.
