Washington County’s 911 Communications Center has recognized the efforts of Emergency Communications Specialist Maggie Keller, who helped facilitate the successful delivery of a baby during a 911 call.
On Sunday, June 29, at 12:47 a.m., Keller received a 911 call reporting a woman in active labor. Acting swiftly, she reassured the caller and dispatched Emergency Medical Services while providing pre-arrival childbirth instructions in accordance with protocols established by the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch.
Under her calm and expert guidance, county officials said, the baby was safely delivered before EMS arrived on scene. Her composed demeanor and decisive actions ensured a positive outcome during a high-stress situation, they added.
To honor her exceptional service, Keller was presented with a stork pin and certificate – symbols of recognition for her critical role in facilitating the delivery.
