WAYNESBORO, Pa. — The Waynesboro Fellowship of Churches is again sponsoring local participation in the Church World Service Global Organization’s CROP Walk program.
The 55th annual Waynesboro Area CROP Hunger Walk will be held on Sunday, Oct. 4, with registration beginning at
1:30 p.m. and the walk at 2 p.m. This year the walk will be a two-mile route on the paved walking path along the Washington Township Boulevard.
The walk will begin and end at the soccer fields on the corner of Washington Township Boulevard and
Country Club Road.
Last year 60 walkers collected $7,021.90. Of these funds 25% went to the local agencies New Hope Shelter, The Lunch Place and Waynesboro Community and Human Services. The rest goes to Church World Service to benefit hunger programs around the world.
Local ministries have received more than $89,300 over the years through the CROP walks. A total of over $358,000 has been raised by Waynesboro walkers as they join with hundreds of communities across the U.S. that walk to raise funds to end hunger around the world.
The goal is to attract more walkers.
