5 things to do this weekend

The 2025 Chocolate Excursion will be held in downtown Waynesboro on Saturday, March 1. This annual event invites participants to stroll through the town, sampling a variety of chocolate delights from local eateries and sweet spots. Attendees can pick up passports at 66 W. Main St. and explore the stops throughout downtown, returning their completed passports to be eligible for prizes. The event culminates with a champagne hour and music from 4 to 5 p.m., along with silent auctions.

The Hagerstown Home Show, an annual showcase of the building industry, is set for Saturday, March 1, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, March 2, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Hagerstown Community College’s Athletic Recreational Community Center. This event, organized by the Home Builders Association of Washington County, will feature experts in home improvement, offering attendees a chance to explore the latest products and services. Admission is $2 for adults, with children under 12 entering free. Those bringing a hygiene item or non-perishable food donation can enjoy complimentary entry. The show will include live music and food vendors.

The Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter will host its highly anticipated Cabin Fever Music Fest at The Orchards Restaurant in Chambersburg on Saturday, March 1. Doors will open at 4 p.m., with music kicking off at 5. This event will feature five bands performing in one venue, offering a diverse musical experience for attendees. Tickets are available in advance for $10, or $12 at the door. The evening will also include raffles and a 50/50 drawing, adding to the fun and fundraising efforts for the shelter. The Tuscarora Wildlife Education Project in Mercersburg will host a multifaceted event on Sunday, March 2, beginning at 1 p.m. at 4773 Fort Loudon Road in Mercersburg. The day will begin with an art show at the center and children’s face painting. At 3 p.m. Captivating Creatures’ Dustin Queary will present a live animal program offering attendees an intimate encounter with various reptiles. Admission to the event is set at $5 for adults and $3 for school-aged children.

“The Cemetery Club,” directed by Tom Doty, is a comedy exploring friendship, love and companionship through grief. Rated G for a family-friendly experience, “The Cemetery Club” will be performed at the Potomac Playmakers Performing Arts Center in Hagerstown. Performances are on Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets are $20, with a discounted price of $15 for those aged 65 and older, and can be purchased at the door or online.
