5 things to do this weekend

Downtown Waynesboro will host a weekend packed with community events April 26-27, featuring activities for all ages. Saturday’s lineup includes the Waynesboro Indoor Farmers Market, Earth Celebration Day and Recycle Fundraiser at Pine Hill Recreation Area, and Destination Jazz at Waynesboro Area Senior High School. Sunday brings the 7th Annual Downtown Food Stroll, where attendees can sample fare from 16 local eateries and enjoy live music. “This weekend is a great opportunity to enjoy some of the great things about Waynesboro while also supporting some amazing local organizations who are improving the quality of life in our community: The Arts Alliance of Greater Waynesboro, Buttonwood Nature Center and Mainstreet Waynesboro. Great food, music, and taking care of our home are some key ingredients to a wonderful Waynesboro weekend!” said Bill Kohler, director of Mainstreet Waynesboro. Organizers say the events are designed to showcase downtown’s vibrancy and foster community spirit.

The Fountain Festival will take place in downtown Chambersburg from Friday, April 25, through Sunday, April 27. The event kicks off Friday evening with amusement attractions and food trucks. Saturday features 35 food trucks, a beer garden, amusement rides, entertainment, and retail vendors, while Sunday offers food trucks, entertainment, and more amusement attractions. The festival, presented by Shoemaker’s Insurance & Financial Services, promises a weekend of family-friendly fun and local flavor.

Antrim Spring Farm will hold its first annual Spring Fest in Greencastle on Saturday, offering a free, family-friendly event with barbecue, live music and local craft vendors. Attendees can enjoy food from Sweet Dreams BBQ, Antietam Dairy and Tag-a-Long Coffee Co., as well as browse handmade goods from artisans such as Ten Thousand Villages, Livin to Dye, Refined Design and others. The festival is set to begin at 10 a.m., welcoming the community to celebrate the season and support local businesses.

Main Street in Boonsboro will come alive Saturday with the annual Spring Jubilee, offering a full day of live music, local food, and family-friendly activities. Pathfinders Distillery will host a beverage garden featuring spring cocktails and local beers, while the Chicken Wing Boys serve up a variety of crowd-pleasing flavors. Visitors can tour Inn Boonsboro from 1 to 3 p.m., enjoy kids crafts and outdoor games, and meet local artists at Gifts Inn Boonsboro and Josie’s on Main. Book lovers can stop by Turn the Page for a children’s book signing, and Talon’s Studio will offer 20 percent off select items. The Washington County Antique Tractor Club will provide free tractor rides from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., departing from The National Road Museum, which, along with the Boonsboro Visitors Center and Trolley Station, will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Organizers say the event aims to foster community spirit and celebrate local businesses.

Visitors to Fort Frederick State Park can step back in time during the 29th annual 18th Century Market Fair, where more than 150 artisans, reenactors and vendors fill the historic grounds with period crafts, encampments and living history demonstrations. The event, held at 11100 Fort Frederick Road in Big Pool, features sutlers selling pottery, tinware, clothing, books, muskets, and more, alongside blanket trading and colonial-era entertainment. Public hours run Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children 5 and under, with special passes available for military members, veterans and state park passholders.
