CHAMBERSBURG – A 42-year-old man was to make his initial court appearance Dec. 30 on criminal homicide charges in the death of a Chambersburg woman, who was found Sunday lying in a pool of blood, according to police and media reports.
Andre Romulus had fled the scene after allegedly attacking the woman, who police identified as Marjorie Jocelyn, a 33-year-old resident of Chambersburg. Romulus was taken into custody by members of the Chambersburg Police Department, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force.
Romulus reportedly accused the woman of “embarrassing him” and leaving him with their child. He also is alleged to have said he had beaten her before, according to media reports.
Police were called at 2:20 a.m. Sunday to an address in the Unit Block of W. Washington Street. The first responding officer arriving was requested to check the welfare of a Ms. Jocelyn. The officer found she was unconscious, unresponsive and required medical assistance. Chambersburg police and EMS personnel provided medical assistance to Ms. Jocelyn, but she later succumbed to her injuries, police said.
Preliminary findings showed that Ms. Jocelyn died from blunt force trauma. After further investigation, the Chambersburg Police Department identified Andre Romulus as the individual who assaulted her. Romulus then fled the scene and fled to Harrisburg. The location of the child was not reported by police.
