CHAMBERSBURG – Police arrested three suspects on Tuesday, Feb. 4, in connection with shooting incidents on Jan. 12 and 31, along with a fourth suspect accused of hindering apprehension, police reported. The four suspects were located during a search of an apartment on the first block of South Main Street in the borough, police said.
The U.S. Marshal’s Service and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search, police said.
The suspects apprehended Tuesday are:
- Ky’Jarese Hicks, 19, of Chambersburg
- Mikaijah Mitchell, 20, of Chambersburg
- Aaron Helman Jr., 16, of Chambersburg
- Shataija Edwards, 32, of Chambersburg
Helman and Hicks are believed to have been involved in a Jan. 31 shooting, which injured a juvenile victim in the area of West Catherine and Water streets, police said.
According to police, Hicks and Helman were also wanted in connection with a Jan. 12 incident that left two vehicles in the area of Central Avenue and East South Street damaged by bullets. Hicks was charged with a felony count of riot/planned use of a weapon/firearm in connection to that case, while Helman was charged as a juvenile.
Mitchell, who was also charged in connection with the Jan. 31 shooting, had already been arrested and arraigned on Saturday and was free on bail, according to police.
But when investigators searched the S. Main St. apartment Tuesday morning, they found Hicks, Helman, Mitchell and Edwards there, according to police.
Police alleged Mitchell and Edwards had known of the other two suspects’ whereabouts and illegally hindered authorities’ efforts to apprehend them.
Edwards is charged with one count of hindering apprehension in connection to Tuesday’s search, police said.
