CLEAR SPRING – Three people died in a residential fire early Monday morning on National Pike east of Clear Spring, according to the Washington County Division of Emergency Services.
Emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 4:31 a.m. to a home between Shade Bower and St. Paul roads. Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire on the first floor and in the basement.
Despite the efforts of nearly 60 firefighters and support personnel, two adult women and one adult man were pronounced dead at the scene. Two family dogs were rescued and turned over to the local SPCA.
The fire was brought under control by 4:56 a.m.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
