The United Recreational Soccer League’s season-ending tournament was an unforgettable one for Waynesboro Youth Soccer Association, which crowned four champions.
The Waynesboro Gold squad was the most dominant of the quartet, with the team conquering the 78-11 North tournament with a 4-0 record, outscoring opponets 15-2 and winning the championship game by a 6-0 score. Two squads called the Waynesboro Warriors captured championships in the 78-77 East and 56 Gambrill tourneys, while the Waynesboro Gladiators surged to the crown in 56 Piedmont tournament.
The URSL’s 34 Lavalle tournament saw two Smithsburg Youth Athletics teams do battle in the championship game, with the SYA Lady Leopards Gold team prevailing by a 2-1 score over SYA Leopards Webb.
One other area squad, Hagerstown American Youth Soccer League’s Skyline FC, won a URSL tourney title. Skyline FC topped the 78-11 West tourney with a 4-0 record and outscored its opponents by a 15-0 margin.
The Central Pennsylvania Youth Soccer League season wrapped up with two squads from the Chambersburg-based Union Soccer Club closing out division titles down the stretch. Spring promotions will be in order for the USC’s U11 boys Havoc, which won CPYSL’s Division 2 with an 8-0 record, as well as the U12 girls Mambas, who posted a 6-1-1 mark to conquer Division 4.
