The session, scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. in the YMCA’s HUB, focuses on the importance of establishing a Power of Attorney. Local guest speakers who specialize in family advocacy and legal decision-making will lead the discussion.
Organizers say the event is designed to demystify the roles of different POA agents. Participants will learn the specific distinctions between a medical POA, which covers healthcare decisions, and a financial POA, which manages assets and estate matters.
The presentation will also address the potential risks of failing to have these documents in place, including the impact on home ownership, personal savings, and long-term care choices.
“Planning for the ‘what ifs’ is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your family,” YMCA officials stated in its event announcement.
While the lunch and the information session are free to the public, registration is required by March 19 to ensure an accurate food count. Interested individuals can register at the Member Services desk or through the YMCA’s online portal.
