WAYNESBORO, Pa. — It was “gavel travel” week at Waynesboro Rotary last week as President Jeff Rock passed club’s leadership over to the incoming president, Kim Eaton.
Rock said he had learned several things during his year as president. He mentioned a trip to the Rotary International Convention, where he was impressed with the worldwide impact of Rotary.
Locally, he said, “This is a great club. I understand that, and the reason is because of all of you. You make a difference in Waynesboro.”
Rock singled out Rotarians Stephen Bui, Megan Witmer, Dan DeDona and Rick Boyer for their contributions during the past year and mentioned he had awarded each of them 1,000 Paul Harris Fellowship points.
He said maintaining membership continues to be a major concern for the club.
After receiving her president’s pin from Waynesboro Rotarian and Area Governor Derek Furry, incoming President Eaton, CEO of the Waynesboro YMCA, said she was looking forward to her year at the helm.
“I’ve spent my career fixing things,” she said, but added she didn’t believe the Waynesboro club needs a lot of fixing. Likening the club to a bus that was in good repair and traveling straight down the highway, she said, “We need to fill the bus with people who believe in the mission of the club. I’m looking forward to next year and you
helping me through it.”
