Waynesboro Rotarians learn of Spring of Hope ministry

WAYNESBORO – Rotarian Gretchen Wease, director of the Spring of Hope ministry program in Waynesboro, discussed her life’s path during a talk at last week’s meeting.

Wease grew up in the Waynesboro area where she graduated from high school. After high school, she started at Shepherd University with a major in vocal music, but she departed there after two years and said she has picked up life lessons at many other places along the way – including Restoring the Foundation, Elijah House and Dove Global ministries.

Her work experience included Magnolias (senior living) of Chambersburg, bookkeeping at her brother’s contracting business and handling Medicare and Medicaid books at Quincy Village Senior Living.

She said she loved to pray for herself and others from an early age and has continued to do so in her ministry.

Gretchen took over as director at Spring of Hope in 2024 when Rotarian Wayne Kuhns retired. She said Spring of Hope is a Christ-centered ministry that aids clients through prayer and counseling services that help discover the roots of destructive thoughts and behavior patterns. Biblical principles are used to try to bring truth to the person’s life. The nonprofit ministry has offices in Waynesboro, Shippensburg and Chambersburg. Gretchen is the only full-time employee.

She met her husband in third grade and is the mother of four sons.
