WAYNESBORO – Waynesboro Area Senior High School hosted its annual Olympics on May 2, bringing together athletes and student buddies for a day of celebration, competition and community spirit. The event, held from 9:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., began with a walk from the stadium to the high school, where students lined the hallways with posters and cheered as the athletes passed.
Participants enjoyed a variety of activities, including bouncy houses, ball throwing, running events such as the 50-yard dash, long jump, dancing, face painting and ice cream. The atmosphere was festive as athletes took part in friendly competition and fun.
The day concluded with a closing ceremony, where each athlete received a medal placed around their neck by their student buddy, recognizing their participation and achievements. Organizers and attendees described the event as an uplifting and memorable experience for everyone involved.
