Volunteers ready for MLK day of service

CHAMBERSBURG – Community members are gearing up to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through a day of service across Franklin County. The MLK Day of Service Committee finalized preparations Monday evening at the Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Center.

About 120 volunteers will participate in projects at 14 nonprofit organizations throughout the county on MLK Day, transforming the national holiday into a day of giving back.

Festivities will begin with a morning program at the Visitors Center, featuring keynote speaker Nakeesha Kenney-Futrell, a licensed clinical social worker who is owner and founder of Elevated Mental Health Services.

While volunteer registration is closed, the public is invited to attend the free morning program. RSVPs can be submitted online through the committee’s registration form.

This marks the sixth annual MLK Day of Service organized by the Franklin County committee. Organizers expressed gratitude to volunteers and partners for helping strengthen the community through service.
