U. of Md. students tackle bike, pedestrian challenges

HAGERSTOWN – The public is encouraged to attend an upcoming workshop to explore improving bike and pedestrian connections in the Cascade and Fort Ritchie communities, according to officials with Washington County Public Works, in partnership with the University of Maryland Design Center for Environmental and Community Health.

The community meeting will be hosted by the Fort Ritchie Community Center on Monday, Oct. 14, at 3 p.m.. This collaboration provides an opportunity for senior landscape architecture students from the University of Maryland to engage with real-world challenges, receive public input and feedback, and offer potential solutions.

The students will present their findings and proposals to the community during a final presentation at the Fort Ritchie Community Center on Dec. 4, at 3 p.m.

Depending on the circumstances, the proposed ideas may lead to future engineering and implementation of projects under Washington County government’s purview.
