Theater roundup: Various groups plan entertainment, auditions

This week in Franklin and Washington counties, several theater groups are preparing to entertain audiences.

Waynesboro Area Senior High School will be performing their 2026, all-school production of “The Addams Family: School Edition” on March 13th through the 15th. Readers may follow this link for more questions and to purchase tickets


On Saturday, March 7th, and Sunday, March 8th, the Chambersburg Community Theatre will be holding auditions for their upcoming show “Steel Magnolias,” which will be shown from May 1st to the 3rd. For information about the audition and the show, readers may click here.

The Waynesboro Children’s Theatre Troupe is looking for local businesses to become a sponsor for this year’s “Shrek the Musical.” The production expenses of each show exceed $25,000 yearly, and the theater group is looking for assistance. From Friday, March 6, until Sunday March 8, the Potomac Playmakers will be showing “Whodunnitt… The Musical.” On March 23rd and 24th, the Potomac Playmakers will also be hosting auditions for their upcoming show “Sylvia, a comedy by A. On Friday, March 6th; Saturday, March 7th; and Sunday, March 8th, the Washington County Playhouse will be presenting their show “Frozen: The Broadway Musical.” For information and tickets, readers may click here to visit their website. 

On Friday, March 6th, the Maryland Theatre will be showing “The Irish Comedy Tour.” The show is suitable for those ages 18+ due to language and drinking on stage. For additional information and tickets, readers may follow this link.

The Maryland Symphony Youth Orchestra is officially accepting applications for the 2025-26 Spring Cycle. This program is not intended for those over the age of 19. Musicians may click this link to get more information about the auditions. “Dawn of the 20th Century: Debussy, Beach & Sibelius” will also be happening at the Maryland Symphony Orchestra on March 14th and 15th.
