The Institute’s next StoryWalk® scheduled

Terry McKendrick and Tenley Mae enjoyed toasting marshmallows for s’mores at a campfire after a walk on the StoryWalk® trail last winter. The Institute’s next story trail event is on Jan. 14 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Pine Hill Recreation Area.

WAYNESBORO—Area families are invited to attend The Institute’s monthly StoryWalk® Sundays adventure for kids on Sunday, Feb. 12, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Pine Hill Recreation Area.

Kids join a guided walk and activities along the story trail as they read a story book, then make a special craft project to take home. With the chilly weather, everyone will warm up with a campfire and enjoy hot chocolate and s’mores!

The featured storybook is “Snowmen at Night,” by husband-and-wife team Caralyn and Mark Buehner.

“This whimsical story explores the idea of snowmen waking up while we sleep, and the magical adventures they have during the night,” said Pam Rowland, The Institute’s education director. “There are also hidden animal friends in the beautiful illustrations—a cat, rabbit, dinosaur and more.”

The event is free, but pre-registration is required by Feb. 9. Register online at: www.NatureAndCultureInstitute.org

For more information, email [email protected] or call 717-762-0373. Limited to 20 children.

All families are welcome, but activities are geared for preschool and elementary age kids.

Pine Hill’s StoryWalk® trail, an Institute project, was funded in part by Summit Endowment, Marge Kiersz and Rouzerville Business Association, with in-kind support from Washington Township, Hopewell Manufacturing, Waynesboro Area School District “Be the Village,” and Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library.

Additional support is from The Institute’s Today’s Horizon Fund contributors: The Nora Roberts Foundation; Marge Kiersz; and the Carolyn Terry Eddy Family: Carolyn, with daughters Connie Fleagle & Kim Larkin. Other sponsors include Kathy Helfrick and Jane Glenn. Facility support courtesy of Washington Township.

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. StoryWalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.
