WAYNESBORO, Pa. — In partnership with the Tri-State Astronomers Club (TSA), Buttonwood Nature Center presents a new program — an Observing Clinic — to teach telescope owners how to use their telescopes at night.
The event is on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at Pine Hill Recreation Area. The program is free but advance registration is required.
This hands-on experience is designed to help you learn how to use your telescope outside at night in real conditions.
Participants should bring their telescope to the event. TSA volunteers will provide guidance in using your equipment to find and observe objects in the night sky.
“Telescopes must be functioning properly,” said Rick Arestad, TSA Chairman. “Time and resources won’t allow our volunteers to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, or equipment problems.”
“The goal is for everyone to arrive with a working telescope and leave with more confidence in finding objects, using their telescope and mount, and getting the most out of their equipment,” Arestad said.
