WAYNESBORO, Pa. – Hooverville Elementary teacher Emily Lego of the Waynesboro Area School District has been recognized for her innovative classroom approach with a $200 grant from the Franklin County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.
Lego plans to use the grant to purchase child-sized gardening hand tools for students to maintain the school’s nature area. The tools will allow students to take part in hands-on learning opportunities while deepening their appreciation for the environment.
The project encourages students to connect with nature through active participation. Its impact is expected to continue for years as each class contributes to the upkeep and growth of the outdoor space.
