HAGERSTOWN, Md. — On Monday, July 27, Hagerstown City Police responded to a reported shooting in the 500 block of George Street around 2:24 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers found a 26-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders from Community Rescue Service transported the victim to Meritus Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. Authorities said he is currently in stable condition.
Investigators determined the shooting followed an earlier altercation in the same area. According to police, the suspect left the scene and later returned before opening fire on the victim.
Officers located and arrested the suspect less than three hours after the incident. Police identified him as 33-year-old Kyron Sapp Jr. of Hagerstown.
Sapp was taken to the Washington County Detention Center. He faces charges including attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and handgun-related offenses.
