WAYNESBORO – Sunday School classes at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waynesboro collected $600 to purchase items for Antietam Humane Society.
The organization was designated by the Christian Education Committee as part of its yearly project to give back to the community.
“Our local store, For the Love of Dogs, was so excited to go all in with us they brought their ‘dog’ Barkley for a visit in the fall to kick off and gain enthusiasm for the project,” according to Bobbi Blubaugh, a Sunday School teacher (pre-kidergarten through first grade) at the church. “They also brought pencils and stickers for the kids.”
On May 4, the Sunday School classes (pre-kindergarten through 5th grade) walked from the church to the store during the Sunday School hour to choose items to purchase with the money. “The store owners opened early that day to accommodate us as well as giving us a discount for the items purchased,” noted Blubaugh.
