WAYNESBORO – Options starting with nearly every letter of the alphabet were explored as Waynesboro Area Senior High School (WASHS) hosted a First Choice Career Conference for students April 16.
Kicking off the day was a keynote address by a WASHS Alumna, Magisterial District Judge Annie R. Gomez Shockey (District Court 39-3-02 serving Waynesboro and Washington Township).
More than 100 industry professionals, community leaders and educators offered students a roadmap, connections and skills needed to navigate their futures in a variety of careers.
A number of speakers engaged in and facilitated discussions regarding their career journeys, highlighting the importance of finding meaning in one’s work.
Students also attended small-group sessions with professionals in their specific fields of interest.
Job skill workshops with WASHS staff focused on the essential “soft skills” and technical competencies required in the modern workforce.
More than 60 organizations representing various industries and higher education institutions were represented at the College and Career Fair.
