SMITHSBURG, Md. – Nick Roncone and Kaden Dietrich each notched four goals and an assist on Tuesday as the Smithburg boys lacrosse team fell short in a 11-10 loss to Oakdale.
Zach Linn added a goal and an assist, while Kyle Kretsinger had a goal for the Leopards.
Marquis Weadfall won 13 of 24 faceoffs and Dante Rucci collected seven saves in goals for Smithsburg.

Ruffner named Wilson/NFCA DII Pitcher of the Week
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Shepherd University junior Madelayne Ruffner was named National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) DII Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday for the third time this season.
Ruffner, who continues to strike out her opponents at a nation’s best clip, fanned 28 more batters over 17 scoreless innings while going 2-0 last week.
She tied a career-best with 19 strikeouts in a 10-inning, three-hit shutout of Kutztown. Ruffner struck out nine more in a six-hit shutout of No. 25-ranked Shippensburg.
Ruffner leads Division II in strikeouts (243), strikeouts per seven innings (12.6), and WHIP (0.68); Ruffner surpassed the 800 career strikeout mark last weekend.
