Sean Scott seeks mayor’s post in Chambersburg

CHAMBERSBURG – John “Sean” Scott III has officially announced his candidacy for Mayor of Chambersburg. With over two decades of leadership in the financial services industry, Scott has made a lasting impact in both banking and public service, according to campaign officials.

As a bank vice president, Scott brings a wealth of experience in retail banking, customer satisfaction and strategic financial management. His career has been defined by a commitment to excellence, innovation and community engagement, a campaign press release noted.

Scott, a Democrat, is the lone Democratic contender, so he will face off against incumbent Mayor Kenneth Hock, a Republican, in the general election.

Scott’s background includes leadership roles where he refined his expertise in personnel management, banking, retail management and customer-focused solutions. His ability to drive success is complemented by a strong academic foundation, holding a master’s degree in public administration from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor of arts degree in political science and communication from Messiah University.

Beyond his career in the financial sector, Scott has been deeply involved in civic engagement. He served as a Borough Councilman for Chambersburg for four years, focusing on building bipartisan consensus, the press release said. Additionally, he dedicated 20 years to the Planning and Zoning Commission and eight years to the Recreation Advisory Committee.

His long-standing commitment to public service reflects his dedication to sustainable economic growth and community-driven initiatives, according to the release.

Scott has been a dedicated advocate for community service, particularly through his involvement with the Chambersburg Church of The Brethren. As Chair of the Stewardship Commission and Missions and Service Commission, he plays a key role in guiding the church’s mission and outreach efforts. Additionally, he serves on the Midweek Connections Committee, working to combat food insecurity and support local families in need. His leadership and commitment continue to make a meaningful impact on the Chambersburg community, the release said.

“My goal has always been to empower individuals and businesses through financial stability and thoughtful leadership,” Scott said. “By bridging the gap between financial expertise and community advocacy, we can build stronger, more resilient communities.”

As Scott continues his leadership journey, his influence in both banking and public service remains instrumental in shaping a more prosperous future for Chambersburg and beyond, the release noted.
