WAYNESBORO, Pa. — Waynesboro Rotary members heard from two regional education leaders during their recent weekly meeting, highlighting innovative efforts to prepare students for the workforce.
Brad Ocker, director of career and community partnerships at Chambersburg Area School District, and Brian Fisher, career coordinator at Waynesboro Area School District, presented collaborative programs designed to give students real-world experience before graduation.
The presenters outlined how students are introduced to career pathways beginning in ninth grade, with expanded opportunities in subsequent years. These include internships, job shadowing and hands-on learning experiences that connect classroom instruction to local workforce needs.
Ocker and Fisher emphasized that early exposure helps students make informed decisions about their futures while building practical skills sought by employers. The programs also strengthen partnerships between schools and local businesses, creating a pipeline of career-ready graduates.
Rotary members engaged in discussion following the presentation, noting the positive impact such initiatives have on both students and the broader community.
