BOONSBORO, Md – Mothers and daughters from around the region came together at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center for the annual Muddy Mamas Run in support of Girls Incorporated of Washington County.
The event is an 18-obstacle, untimed 5K course filled with mud, teamwork, and determination. The event brought in about 1,700 registered competitors from ages 10 and older. There were also over 350 volunteers there to support the competitors, vendors, and sponsors all geared to raise money for a great cause. Event organizers have estimated that around 7,000 people attended throughout the day.
The Muddy Mams Run and Girls Incorporated gained support from businesses around the region. Companies like DOT Foods, Younger Toyota, Edward Jones, AC&T, Pepsi, United Bank, Patriot Federal Credit Union, Hampton by Hilton, Frostburg State University, Volvo, Twigg Cycles, D.M Bowman, Home Depot, Meritus Health, and so many more were in attendance to show support and sponsored the event. Even our own LocalNews1 was in attendance and sponsored the event.
Local vendors and food trucks were on hand to offer up tasty treats and shopping opportunities for the visitors. Food trucks like Keep It Smokin’ BBQ were in attendance to keep the ladies and their guests fueled up for a day of action and excitement. While shoppers could stop by vendor tables like Warehouse Cinemas for entertainment or grab treats from tables like Blackout Nuts & Pretzels.
While the exact dollar amount for how much money was raised for Saturday’s event has not yet been released, it is estimated that the proceeds should exceed $100,000 this year. For the competitors it was not just about the money, but an opportunity for mothers and sighters to create a memory and share an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives.
