Pennsylvania residents who want to vote in the Nov. 3 general election have until Oct. 19 to register.
The deadline applies to new voters and those who need to update registration information before Election Day. Pennsylvania does not allow voters to register at the polls on Election Day.
Voters can register online, by mail, in person through their county voter registration office or at eligible PennDOT locations. Residents also can check their registration status and update information such as a name, address or political party affiliation through the state’s voter services website.
To register, a person must have been a U.S. citizen for at least 30 days before the election, lived in Pennsylvania and the election district where they intend to vote for at least 30 days, and be at least 18 years old on or before Election Day.
Pennsylvania’s Nov. 3 ballot will include races for U.S. House seats, governor and lieutenant governor, state Senate seats in even-numbered districts and all state House seats.
Eligible residents may also obtain voter registration applications from county election offices, county assistance offices, Women, Infants and Children program offices, military recruitment centers, marriage-license offices, area agencies on aging, county mental health and intellectual disabilities offices, student disability-services offices and certain paratransit providers.
PennDOT driver license and photo centers offer automatic voter registration for eligible residents obtaining or renewing a driver’s license or state identification card.
Registered voters who plan to vote by mail must submit an application for a mail-in or absentee ballot by 5 p.m. Oct. 27. County election offices must receive completed mail ballots by 8 p.m. Nov. 3; a ballot postmarked by Election Day but delivered after that deadline will not be counted.
