Penn State Extension to host dairy pasture walk July 30

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Penn State Extension will host a dairy grazing pasture walk from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, July 30, at Hamilton Heights Dairy Farm, 2300 Edenville Road.

The event is designed to help dairy producers improve pasture quality and grazing outcomes through hands-on learning and expert guidance.

Extension dairy and agronomy educators will lead participants through several key topics, including soil testing, pasture evaluation, rotational grazing, species selection and effective pasture management practices.

Organizers said the program will offer practical insights for improving forage systems and overall herd performance.

The workshop is free to attend, and participants are encouraged to register in advance.

The first 10 registrants may bring a forage sample and will receive one free forage analysis. Those participants will be contacted with additional details.

An optional lunch will be provided following the program.

Registration is available online at extension.psu.edu/pasture-walks-with-extension-dairy or by calling 1-877-345-0691. Questions may be directed to Franklin Dairy Educator Daniela Roland at 814-386-8000.
