Patrick Rock shares career journey with Waynesboro Rotary Club

Rotarian Patrick Rock

WAYNESBORO, Pa. — Rotarian Patrick Rock shared his personal and professional journey during a recent Waynesboro Rotary Club meeting, offering insight into his roots, career growth and commitment to family and community.

A Waynesboro native, Rock comes from a family well known within the club. His father, Jim Rock, is also a member, and his uncle, Jeff Rock, currently serves as chapter president.

Patrick Rock grew up in the Wayne Heights area, where he enjoyed a childhood filled with bike riding and Little League baseball. In high school, he played football and went on to serve as captain of the Waynesboro Area Senior High School team before graduating in 2001.

After briefly attending college, Rock said he realized he was not ready to continue his education at that time and instead joined the family business, GRC General Contracting.

He began with entry-level responsibilities, taking on what he described as “grunt work” and gradually worked his way up through the company. Over time, and with the guidance of mentors, Rock advanced to assistant project manager, then project manager, vice president and, most recently, president.

Rock acknowledged that early in his career he often felt uncertain, but said hands-on experience and strong mentorship helped him develop confidence and leadership skills. He also noted that his working relationship with his father, the company’s former head, has remained strong throughout his career.

Under GRC General Contracting, Rock has been involved in numerous local construction projects, including work at Red Run Park, the Washington Township municipal offices, Buchanan Auto and the Washington Township Authority.

“I love what I do and can’t imagine doing anything else,” Rock said.

In his personal life, Rock met his wife, Heather, on a blind date in 2009. He later returned to college and earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Penn State Mont Alto.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their two children, as well as participating in activities such as going to the beach, golfing, skiing, hiking and following football.
