CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Pennsylvanians have until Oct. 19 to register to vote or to make changes to their voter registration information ahead of the state’s Nov. 3 General Election.
Qualifications to register to vote in Pennsylvania
To register to vote in Pennsylvania, an individual must:
● Be at least 18 years of age on or before the day of the election.
● Be a citizen of the United States for at least one month before the election.
● Be a resident of Pennsylvania and the election district in which the voter wants to register for at least 30 days before the election.
Registering to vote for the first time or updating a voter’s information
● Submit an application online at www.pavoterservices.pa.gov.
● Obtain a paper voter registration application from a candidate, political party or other federal, state or municipal office.
● Request a paper voter registration application from the Franklin County Voter Registration Office located at 272 N. Second St., Chambersburg, or by calling 717-261-3886.
● Download a voter registration application from the Department of State’s website, www.pa.gov/agencies/vote, or the Franklin County website, www.franklincountypa.gov.
● Apply at a Department of Transportation photo license center when updating a driver’s license.
● Apply at a government agency:
–State offices that provide public assistance and services to persons with disabilities
–Armed forces recruitment centers
–Clerk of Courts office
–Area Agencies on Aging
–County mental health/intellectual disabilities offices
–Centers for Independent Living
Once an application is processed, voters will receive a voter registration card in the mail noting the changes they have made along with the location of their polling place. Applications received or postmarked after Oct. 19 will be processed for the May 18, 2027 Municipal Primary. First-time voters will be asked to show ID the first time they vote. Voters who have made any updates to their registration may be asked to show ID following the update. This is the only time voters will be asked to show ID.
