William R. “Bill” Shafer, Sr., 88, of Fayetteville, PA passed away Sunday, September 13, 2026, in Laurel Lakes Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg. Born September 25, 1937, he was the son of the late, Harry C. and Lucetta (House) Shafer.
He was employed as an insurance salesman throughout his career. Bill enjoyed gardening and his dog, Toby, and his cat, Lucky.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Phyllis (Kaplan) Shafer; two children, Donna Shafer and William R. Shafer, Jr.; three stepchildren, Adam Siegel, Robert Siegel, and Diana Nash; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gene Shafer. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Hook; stepson, Greg Siegel; and three siblings Harry, Virginia, and Joe.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, September 18, 2026, in Quincy Cemetery, 6555 Cemetery Lane, Quincy, PA with Pastor Peter Emig officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA.
