Mrs. Wanda S. (Newcomer) Keadle, 71, of Greencastle, PA, passed away Monday, August 17, 2026, at her home.
Born April 7, 1955, in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Lois (Rotz) Newcomer. Wanda was a 1973 graduate of Chambersburg High School.
Wanda worked in Medical Records at Waynesboro Hospital for nearly 35 years. During that time, she formed many lasting friendships with her coworkers. Even after their working days were over, those friendships remained important to her, and she and her former coworkers continued to get together once a month to eat and catch up.
On November 12, 2002, Wanda married Richard “Rick” W. Keadle. Wanda was a talented knitter, and knitting became a meaningful part of her life. She especially enjoyed spending Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Knitting Cottage in Waynesboro, where she gathered with friends to knit, visit, laugh, and share stories. The time she spent there was about more than knitting. It was about the friendships and companionship she found with others who shared her love of the craft. She often used her talent to make things for others, including hats for cancer patients, baby clothes, and many special items for family and friends. Wanda put time, thought, and care into everything she made. Her handmade creations brought warmth and comfort to many people and became a special way for her to show others that she cared.
Wanda had a personality that was impossible to overlook. She was outspoken, independent, and strong-willed, and she was never afraid to share her thoughts. She enjoyed a little banter and could certainly give as good as she got. When Wanda had her mind made up, she had a way of making sure things were done her way. Those who knew her well understood that her strong personality was simply part of what made her Wanda.
Beneath that strong personality was a very caring woman, especially when it came to her friends. She valued her friendships deeply and was there for the people she cared about. She could spend hours talking with her sister, Ronda, and enjoyed staying connected with the people who were important to her. Wanda also had a special love for dogs. At one time, she and Rick shared their home with four dogs, and her beloved Yorkie-poo, Whisper, remained a cherished companion. She also enjoyed baking at one time.
In addition to her husband, Rick, Wanda is survived by her stepdaughter, Justine A. Keadle of Martinsburg, WV; her sister, Ronda Newcomer and her husband, Walter “Brew” Brewbaker of Enola, PA.
Services will be private, at the convenience of the family.
