Walter H. Patey, Sr., 84, of Fayetteville, PA passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025, at his home.
He was born on December 14, 1940, in Powellville, MD to the late Lester and Edna (Jones) Patey.
He was a 1958 graduate of Wicomico High School in Salisbury, MD. He was employed as a soil conservationist with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) until his retirement.
In his free time, he enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and hunting in his younger years.
He is survived by his children Teresa Weaver (James) of Fairplay, MD; Walter Patey, Jr., of Falling Waters, WV; Larry Patey (Robin) of Keedysville, MD; Mark Patey (Kelly) of Hagerstown, MD; Timothy Patey of Hagerstown, MD; and Karen Weller (Kevin) of Fayetteville, PA; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, brother David Patey (Barb) of Salisbury, MD; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Patricia Patey and a brother Robert Patey.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 4:00 pm at the Guilford Township Community Center, 3050 Lincoln Way East, Fayetteville, PA 17222. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
