Vivian L. Statler, 94, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024 in SpiriTrust Lutheran The Village at Luther Ridge. Born January 27, 1930 in Mt. Cydonia area of Franklin County, PA she was the daughter of the late Charles A. Shoemaker, Sr. and Florence (Mowers) Black.
She attended Chambersburg High School. Vivian was employed as a seamstress at the Stanley Company and Tracy Fashions both in Chambersburg. Alongside her husband, she owned and operated Southwest Indian Art both in Chambersburg and Host Inn, Harrisburg, PA. Vivian also helped her husband build houses.
Vivian was a member of Fourth Street Church of the Brethren and a former member of King Street Church. She enjoyed traveling with her husband; together they visited all 50 states and several foreign countries. Following the passing of her husband, Vivian went on two world cruises.
She is survived by two children, Linda D. Burkholder and her husband Ray of Chambersburg and Steven G. Statler and his wife Dawn of Hampton Cove, AL; three grandchildren, Renee Preso and her husband Mike of Chambersburg, Lisa Westwick and her husband Chris of Catonsville, MD, and Andrea Gray and her husband William of Hampton Cove, AL; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Nelson L. Statler who passed away January 2, 2001; a brother, sister, and six half-sisters.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA. Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA.
