Mrs. Vivian Keadle Hyde, 101, of Hagerstown, died late Tuesday night, July 16, 2024, at Williamsport Retirement Village. She was the wife of the late James L. Hyde, who she married on January 24, 1946, and who died on November 27, 2004.
Born August 1, 1922, in Myersville, she was a daughter of the late Orville E. and Edna Routzahn Keadle.
Mrs. Hyde was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hagerstown; and associate member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Funkstown.
Additionally, she was a member of Queen Esther Chapter 3, Order of the Eastern Star, Hagerstown.
Mrs. Hyde had previously been a member of Bethel Guardian of the International Order of Job’s Daughters, Bethel Number 36, Lady Elks, Auxiliary of Dixon-Troxell Post 211 American Legion, Funkstown, and the Washington County Retired Educational Personnel Association.
Mrs. Hyde was survived by numerous nieces and nephews, who loved her deeply.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Harry M., E. Richard and Thomas P. Keadle, Ross Routzahn, and C. Elizabeth Burgan. Mrs. Hyde is the last of her immediate family.
The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, on Monday, July 22, beginning at 12:00 PM and until the funeral service begins at the funeral home at 1:00 PM. Her pastor, Rev. P. Lee Brumback, of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Hyde’s name to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 141 South Potomac Street, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740; or to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 24 East Baltimore Street, Funkstown, Maryland 21734.
