Mr. Vernon S. “Butch” Hollenshead, Jr., 77, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024, in his home.
Born October 7, 1946 in Waynesboro, he was the son of Vernon S. Hollenshead, Sr. and Frances M. (Simmers) Hollenshead.
Butch graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1965.
He and his wife of 59 years, Connie I. (Yentsch) Hollenshead, were married on July 3, 1965.
Butch worked for Landis Tool Company, Waynesboro and Ryder PIE. While at Ryder, he also served as Union Steward. He retired in 1989.
He was a member of Salem Church, the Waynesboro Fish and Game – where he served on the board of directors for many years, Joe Stickell American Post #15 and William Max McLaughlin V.F.W. Post #695, all of Waynesboro.
Butch enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening taking walks and hunting mushrooms.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Lori Eigenbrode and husband, Duane of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, Megan Hollenshead, Stefan Hollenshead and Abigail Eigenbrode; one great-granddaughter, Blakelee Hovis; her daughter-in-law, Jacqueline B. Hollenshead of Waynesboro; two sisters, Darlene Daywalt and JoAnn Smith, both of Waynesboro; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Hollenshead; one brother, Barry Hollenshead; and one sister, Linda Hollenshead.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 24, 2024 in Salem Church, 4881 Salem Church Road, Waynesboro, PA with Pastor Brent Mangus officiating.
