Mrs. Vera M. (Bingaman) Christophel, a lifelong resident of Greencastle, PA, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the Shook Home, Transitions Health Care in Chambersburg, PA.

Born February 26, 1926, in Greencastle, PA, she was the daughter of the late William B. and Maggie (Snider) Bingaman.

She graduated from Greencastle High School with the Class of 1943.

She married Robert E. Christophel September 7, 1945, in Hagerstown, MD. Robert passed away September 9, 2012.

She was employed as a presser at the former Stanley Company, Chambersburg, PA. Vera was a woman with a deep faith and a big heart for God; she was a devout member of Macedonia U.B. Church. She loved spending time at the Senior Center, connecting with friends, and never missed a chance to grab a meal at Mikey’s—her favorite spot! Vera was a sweet lady, with a lot of spunk, who made every effort to care for those around her. She cherished her neighbors, who were like family, always there for each other—whether it was driving to appointments, sharing meals, or lending a hand whenever needed.

She is survived by three grandchildren: Chris (Jim) Rhodes, of Fannettsburg, PA, Ray (Patty) Gochenauer, of Chambersburg, PA, and Rob Gochenauer of Chambersburg, PA; six great-grandchildren: Damien (Katy) Elser, Ben (Rebekah) Elser, Jimmy (Jill) Rhodes, Austin Gochenauer, Jenna Gochenauer and Zach Gochenauer; seven great-great-grandchildren: Liam Elser, Finnegan Elser, Emersyn Elser, Everett Elser, Ayden Rhodes, Olivia Rhodes and Waylen Rhodes and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Gochenauer, a great grandson, Sebastian Gochenauer, a great-great-grandson, Emmett Elser, three brothers: Lloyd Bingaman, Wade Bingaman and John C. Bingaman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Macedonia 11887 Worleytown Rd. Greencastle, with Rev. Gale Ruble and Pastor Brian Black officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Monday, August 25th, at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St. Greencastle, and again one hour prior to the service in the church on Tuesday.

Memorial contributions in Vera’s name may be made to Macedonia Church building fund, 11887 Worleytown Rd. Greencastle, PA 17225.
