Mrs. Trudy I. (Kennedy) Stum, 82, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Wednesday evening, July 17, 2024, in her home, surrounded by her family.

Born March 14, 1942 in Carlisle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Irene (Ritter) Kennedy.

Mrs. Stum graduated from Green Park Union (PA) High School with the Class of 1960.

She and her husband of over 60 years, Robert E. Stum, were married on August 24, 1963 in Messiah Lutheran Church, Elliottsburg, PA.

In her early life, she worked at the PA State Capitol until her marriage. She was later a homemaker and babysitter for many children in the local area.

She was a member of the Church of the Apostles, UCC in Waynesboro, the Red Hat Society and the Waynesboro Youth Soccer Association. In her younger years, she was very active in the church, including serving on various committees. She also used to work every Saturday in the concession stand at the Waynesboro Youth Soccer Association.

Trudy was known for her smile and her kitchen that was always open. She had a deep love for her grandchildren and all the children that she babysat for.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Brian E. Stum (Jean), Melanie A. Buhrman and Debbie S. Jacobs (Jake), all of Waynesboro; seven grandchildren, Hailey Hahn (Tyler), Zach Stum, Josh Stum, Natalie Buhrman, Derek Buhrman (Sydney), Connor Jacobs and Eric Jacobs; her siblings, William Kennedy of Landisburg, PA and Sue VanDenElzen (John) of Emmaus, PA; several nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, K. Dwayne “Dewey” Buhrman; and one brother, Edward Kennedy.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 10, 2024 in The Auditorium at Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, 9244 Five Forks Road, Waynesboro with Pastor Narda Druckenmiller and Pastor Mark Ruzicka officiating.  Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.  

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Friday, August 9, 2024 and one hour prior to the services, Saturday morning, August 10th, in the auditorium at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Waynesboro Youth Soccer Association, C/O Showalter and Miller CPA, 42 E. Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268.

The family wishes to thank her wonderful nurses Angie, Barbara and Lisa. They would also like to thank her caregivers, Janice and Angie.
