Mr. Thomas E. Hook, 87, of Gettysburg, PA, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2026 in Forest Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle, PA.
Born August 18, 1937 in Highland, WV, he was the son of the late Roscoe Hook and Ivy (Bennett) Wagaman.
Mr. Hook was a graduate of Quincy High School with the Class of 1956 and received his Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management and Development from Chapman University.
He dedicated 30 years to serving his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He retired in 1988 as Master Gunnery Sergeant and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Following his distinguished military career, Mr. Hook worked in pest control for over 10 years.
Mr. Hook was of the Southern Baptist Faith and enjoyed fishing, stamp collecting and reading. An accomplished artist and musician, he played both the banjo and guitar.
He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Jacqueline E. (Rogers) Hook, who he married December 24, 1960; two children, Amanda Staley of Aspers, PA and Troy Hook and his wife, Linda of Marietta, CA; four grandchildren, Tyler Staley, Kyleigh Staley, Christopher Hook and Brandon Hook; and one great-granddaughter, Willow Welch.
Mr. Hook was the last of his immediate family.
In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Wagaman.
Private graveside services will be held in Strang’s Cemetery, South Mountain, PA, where military graveside honors will be conducted by the Honor Guard of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post # 1599, Chambersburg, PA.
