Mr. Terry Ray Bonebrake, 68, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at home, surrounded by his family after a courageous 10-year battle with cancer.

Born on September 18, 1956, in Waynesboro, Terry was the son of the late Theodore “Ted” Bonebrake and Ruth E. (Tressler) Bonebrake Schildt. He graduated from Waynesboro High School in the Class of 1975 and Franklin County Vocational Technical School, specializing in auto mechanics.

Early in his career, Terry worked at Waynesboro Auto Parts before joining West Penn Power, where he dedicated over 27 years of service until his retirement in 2014. A man of boundless energy, Terry rarely remained idle. After long days with the power company, he would spend hours in his garage doing mechanical work for family and friends or cutting and splitting wood. His love of farming instilled in him a deep appreciation for hard work, leading him to assist neighbors with planting, harvesting, and raising cattle. Over the years, he nurtured a love for animals, particularly Boxers and Bobwhite quails, and enjoyed restoring antique cars and tractors.

Terry valued family time, treasuring vacations to the beach and trips to Chester, IL, to visit cousins. He was a member of the Owls Club, actively supported the Quincy Community Center where he spent weekends volunteering at the annual Ox Roast, and devoted countless hours to coaching his daughters’ softball teams during their youth.

Terry is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Annette (McGlaughlin) Bonebrake; two daughters, Kelly Smith (husband Wes) and Kristy Bonebrake; three cherished granddaughters, Chloe, Paisley, and Emersyn Smith; sister-in-law Donna Bonebrake; nieces Michelle McFerren (husband Buff) and Tracy Bonebrake; and several great-nephews and niece, extended family, and friends, including his beloved Boxer companion, Sadie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard L. “Dick” Bonebrake, who passed on July 10, 2022.

As per Terry’s wishes, there will be no public services at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.

Arrangements are entrusted to Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
