Mrs. Susan Elizabeth Clatterbuck Walker, 69, of Hagerstown, fondly known as “Sue,” passed away early Saturday afternoon, October 22, 2022, surrounded by her family at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.  She was the wife of Mr. Gary Lee Walker, her husband of 47 years.

Born March 31, 1953, in Washington, District of Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Bryan C. and Elizabeth Root Morton Clatterbuck.  She graduated Hanover Park High School, Hanover, New Jersey, in 1971; and with a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Delaware, Newark Delaware, in 1975.

Sue worked at a popular fabric store in Lafayette, IN while her husband was at Purdue University.  The family moved to Delaware in 1988.  She started working in the credit card industry, holding several different positions before becoming a Customer Service Manager for Citibank.  She was transferred from Citibank’s Delaware facility to Hagerstown in 2004, retiring in 2012 from Citibank.  After retiring from Citibank she went to work for Kmart until the store closed in early 2020.

She was of Presbyterian faith.

Sue enjoyed sewing & cross-stitch, crafts, and cooking; and was an avid reader and Disney fan – especially Mickey and Minnie Mouse.  She was heavily involved with charity work through both work and home.  She helped with March of Dimes, Habitat for Humanity, Humane Society, Salvation Army, and others.  Family was very important to her.  Often she and Gary would go to her sister’s in Virginia to help with food prep and participate with family events.

Surviving, besides her husband, are her children Bryan D. Walker and wife Jennifer of Pylesville, and Judith Brown and husband Justin of Bel Air; her grandchildren Jack and Alex Walker, and Cameron Brown; as well as her sister, Jean Rummel and husband Tom of Mechanicsville, Virginia.

The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, on Monday, October 31, beginning at 12:00 PM, until a memorial service begins at 1:00 PM at the funeral home, with Rev. Matthew D. Glasgow, officiating.
