It is with deep sorrow and much love that her family mourns the passing of Mrs. Susan Lauretta Ebersole Gay, 64, of Boonsboro, fondly known as “Sue”, on Thursday afternoon, March 5, 2026, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown. She was the devoted wife of the late Troy Curtis Gay, who preceded her in death on February 4, 2019.
Born August 5, 1961, in Hagerstown, she was a daughter of the late Rev Harold Lee and Mrs. Nancy Lee Baker Ebersole. She graduated from Boonsboro High School in 1979.
Sue had previously worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Reeder’s Memorial and Julia Manor Nursing Homes.
She was baptized at Sharpsburg Church of God; and was a faithful member of Sharpsburg Bible Church where she gave her time helping with the children of Junior Church.
In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Sue was a precious sister, loyal friend, and most of all cherished grandmother.
Surviving is her daughter Brandie Sue Kelly and husband Daniel Cane “Danny” of Boonsboro; and her beloved grandson Logan; her siblings Matthew Ebersole and wife Debbie of Tennessee, and Ruby McDonough of Boonsboro; her niece Christie Ebersole, also of Tennessee; her aunt Fran Baker of Ohio; as well as in-laws Ben Gay, Cathy Moroz, and Patti Miller; and several cousins.
Susan will also be remembered by many friends, especially Craig Leggett of Hagerstown.
In addition to her husband and parents, Sue was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Keith McDonough, and Michael and Billy Gay.
The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, on Tuesday, March 10, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held graveside on Wednesday, March 11, at 11:00 AM, at Mountain View Cemetery, 299 East Main Street, Sharpsburg. Her pastor, Rev. Gene W. Renner, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Mrs. Gay’s name to her church, Sharpsburg Bible Church, 5134 General Stuart Court, Sharpsburg, Maryland 21782.
